Statement of GCash on Facebook |
GCash is back, and says your accounts are safe
GCash apologizes for the downtime and said they are now back and have restored their services. The company also assured its users that their funds are safe and secure.
The country's leading mobile wallet also acknowledges that some customers may have experienced a deduction in their GCash account yesterday, but insists that there is no hacking occurred based on their investigation.
Some customers may have experienced a deduction in their GCash account yesterday. We extended our scheduled maintenance to investigate and determined that no hacking occurred. Any deduction from a GCash account will be adjusted before 3:00 PM today.
To recap, GCash was placed under maintenance earlier. Reports of alleged hacking trended earlier after several GCash users claimed that their funds were sent to an EastWest Banking Corporation account ending in number 5239 without their knowledge.
To avoid any issues, GCash recommends restarting our phones. Then you can access the app again.
