In a statement, DOT Secretary Christina Frasco said her department is already investigating the allegation that the campaign vid for "Love the Philippines" included scenes of destination sites not in the country.

DOT's contracted agency DDB Philippines prepared and published the audio-visual presentation.

The DOT is currently conducting an exhaustive investigation to determine the veracity of, and to gather the full faculty of facts on, these allegations, Frasco said.

On Saturday, netizens pointed out that some clips used in the promotional vid were from other countries like Thailand, Indonesia, Switzerland, and the United Arab Emirates.

During the various meetings and consultations held relative to the tourism brand enhancement, the DOT, for its part, repeatedly sought confirmation from DDB on the originality and ownership of all materials contained in the AVPs and key visuals presented to the Department. In ALL these occasions, DDB repeatedly assured the DOT that the originality and ownership of all materials are in order, Frasco said.

The DOT secretary said that "while no public funds have been paid for the AVP in question as this particular component of the launch was released on account of DDB, the DOT holds the responsibility of promoting the country to the highest standard."

Frasco assured the public that it will take the necessary action regarding the issue as it continues to develop and promote the Philippine tourism industry.

The new "Love the Philippines" campaign was launched last week. Since then, it has received mixed reactions, with some criticizing the tone of the branding.

Frasco earlier said that PHP 49 million was spent for the development of the branding's logo, the conduct of the study, and other components of the campaign.
