Way beyond expectations

In a Threads post, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the latest achievement of the social media platform.

70 million sign-ups on Threads as of this morning. Way beyond our expectations, Zuckerberg said.

Threads was launched this week as a direct competitor of Elon Musk's Twitter.

According to Bloomberg, Twitter has over 237 million users as of July 2022.

Generally, the two apps function the same way and differ in terms of limitations.

A basic Twitter user can tweet up to 280 characters, which can be expanded if subscribed to Twitter Blue. Meanwhile, a Threads user is allowed to post with a maximum of 500 characters.

Another notable difference is in terms of posting photos and videos. Twitter limits this to four photos or four videos in a tweet, while Threads allows up to 10 photos and videos combined in a single post.

Threads is currently ranked 1 among social networking apps on App Store.
