Snapdragon G Series for handheld consoles launched!

It starts with the Snapdragon G1 Gen 1 which is made for fanless game streaming handhelds. It features eight Kryo cores and Adreno 11 GPU while Qualcomm says handhelds will last more than 10 hours of battery life.  Additionally, it has WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity and supports a 720p screen and 60 fps.

The second is the Snapdragon G2 Gen1 which is specifically meant for mobile and cloud gaming. It features an 8-core Kryo CPU paired with an Adreno A21 GPU. This also supports WiFI 6/6E and 5G connectivity with the help of a Snapdragon X62 5G modem. The chip also supports an FHD+ screen with up to 144Hz refresh rate.

Next is the Snapdragon G3x Gen2 this will be the successor to the SDG3xG1 which was unveiled for the Razer Edge 5G. The new chip will be powering flagship handhelds with a target of delivering PC-level gaming. The G3x Gen 2 uses an 8-core Kryo CPU with a speed improvement of 30 percent than the previous. It is paired with Adreno A32 GPU with 2x improvement in performance vs. the predecessor.

This also supports ray tracing, WiFi 7, and 5G connectivity. It can also handle an FHD+ screen at 144fps and will support PCIe Gen 4 SSD and stereo haptics.

Finally, Qualcomm has partnered with handheld makers to test these new chips. AyaNeo, Huaqin, Inventec, and Thundercomm are some of the makers invited by Qualcomm. As per the brand, we will see the first set of devices later this year.
