Watch: vivo Y36 Review - Casual user friendly!

Let's take a look at vivo's newest "affordable" mid-ranger in the country called the Y36. 

This is the vivo Y36

Following last year’s vivo Y35, this one still packs the same hardware and battery.

We do get some upgrades in, like, for one, a punch-hole notch front camera on a larger display, and then we get improved cameras at a more affordable price range.

This PHP 12,999 smartphone boasts a boxy design with a stylish glass-like back, a 6.64-inch LCD FHD+ 90Hz screen, 6nm Snapdragon 680 4G chip, 8GB RAM, up to 8GB virtual RAM (total of 16GB Extended RAM), 5,000mAh battery, and a USB-C 44W FlashCharge support. This also has a large 50MP main camera.

As mentioned in the impressions article, I was pleased with the improvements I've seen from vivo on an affordable Y Series phone in terms of design. The back of this device ranks among the prettiest out there at this price point.

Verdict

The cameras of vivo Y36

The vivo Y36 got incremental but important updates from last year's vivo Y35.

We still consider them improvements and it does now come with a PHP 12,999 price tag, which is PHP 2,000 less compared to its predecessor.

The back of this device ranks among the prettiest out there at this price point, and it also has a pretty good display. 

It is okay for everyday use or as a secondary smartphone for casual users. But, it is not that great for gaming and heavier tasks. Also, keep in mind that this version is still not 5G-ready. That's reserved for their Smart Postpaid partnership.

Generally, it performs decently. However, the competition is very stiff at this price point. We hope that vivo will rise to the challenge on their next releases.
