China finally retaliates?

The report from the Wall Street Journal claims that China has banned its government officials from using devices from foreign brands at work. It is part of the larger plan of the Chinese government to reduce its reliance on foreign technology and keep sensitive data from leaking outside its borders. This has resulted in government officials being instructed to not use their iPhones for work-related tasks and are also banned from bringing them to the workplace.

A follow-up report by Bloomberg News suggests that the ban will extend to government-backed agencies and state-run companies in China with the aim of becoming technologically self-reliant.

China is one of Apple's largest markets and is home to several of its large-scale manufacturing hubs.

This new measure could be interpreted as a form of retaliation to the United States' ban on Chinese firms like HUAWEI, ZTE and TikTok.
