Build Quality/Design

The HONOR X6a uses glasstic material on its rear cover with glittery effects and combines colorful gradient effects to achieve a premium look and feel. By the way, we have here the Cyan Lake colorway but there's also the Midnight Black if you prefer darker colors.

The phone measures 75.1mm thick and is lightweight at 188 grams.

Moving forward, despite looking glossy the phone feels smooth to the touch and we noticed it is resistant to fingerprint smudges making it a plus for us especially if you want to flex its design and don't want to use the free case. However, if you want to protect the phone and hard-earned money it is advisable to use the case.

At the front, you'll be greeted with a 6.56-inch LCD screen with HD+ 1612 x 720 resolution, 90Hz display, 16.7M colors, and a 20:15:9 aspect ratio. You can also notice the notch at the top, and thin bezels on the three sides except on the chin.

Another highlight here is the eye protection which HONOR calls Dynamic Dimming technology to lessen the eye strain when using for longer periods.

If you take a look at its battery information. The system estimates it can last up to 25+ hours in Performance mode and 34+ hours in power-saving mode. We will put it to the test in the next few weeks in our full review.

For cameras, the phone uses a 50MP f/1.8 primary sensor coupled with a 2MP depth helper and 2MP macro shooter. On the selfie side, it uses using 5MP f/2.2 sensor.

Based on our initial shots, the phone seems to perform nicely under daylight or properly lit conditions. You can see just the right details, colors, and dynamic range.

However, it will have challenges mostly during night conditions with visible noise, glares, and reduced photo quality. We also noticed that it doesn't have Night mode and it only relies on AI mode which doesn't have an impact at all at least on dark scenarios.

As of the moment

At the price of PHP 6,990, the HONOR X6a comes with the basic offerings of what you would look for in a smartphone. It comes with acceptable RAM, a smooth display with eye care, decent storage, and cameras that can perform well in good lighting.

However, it is not the fastest processor you can find around in its price range. Another worth pointing out here is the battery which is claimed to last for 2 days under normal usage and can easily fill up with its fast charger.

So far, it is an interesting device and we will update you once the full review is done.

What do you guys think?
