The Dimensity 9300

MediaTek officially unveils the Dimensity 9300!

This chipset is built on TSMC's 3rd gen 4nm+ process node but the most notable here is that MediaTek decided to ditch medium-performance cores and efficiency cores and decided to use an "all-big-core design". It is an unusual move compared to its competitors.

In this CPU design, you can find prime Cortex-X4 with a boost clock of 3.25GHz + 3x Cortex-X4 cores with 2.85GHz clock speed + 4x Cortex-A720 cores at 2.0GHz all of which are based on Armv9 architecture.

According to the Taiwanese chipmaker, the Dimensity 9300 brings a 40 percent improvement in peak performance versus its predecessor Dimensity 9200 while consuming 33 percent less energy.

Moving to the GPU department, it is using a 12-core Immortalis-G720 MC12 GPU with hardware-based ray tracing providing a boost in performance by 46 percent and 40 percent energy efficiency against the Dimensity 9200.

This new chip also supports the latest LPDDR5T RAM with speeds of up to 9,600MBps and UFS 4.0 storage with Multi-Circular Queue (MCQ) support.

When it comes to AI, the APU 790 will be the one responsible for it and supports Generative AI with Stable Defusion generation in less than a second for LLM with up to 33 billion parameters.

Furthermore, the Dimensity 9300 also supports WQHD screen resolution and up to 180Hz refresh rate and dual-active displays for foldables.

Imaging is handled by the Imagiq 990 ISP with always-on HDR + standalone image stabilization module. The ISP can manage to run up to 8K video at 30 frames per second or 4K at 30 or 60 fps with cinematic mode and real-time bokeh.

For connectivity, it has an R16 5G modem and supports 4CC-CA Sub-6GHz and 8CC-CA mmWave bands. The modem is expected to provide power efficiency with its MediaTek UltraSave 3.0+ tech.
