Qualcomm unveiled Snapdragon 7 Gen 3: 4nm, 8-cores, and 50 percent GPU improvement!

Following the announcement of the SD7+ Gen 2 earlier this year, Qualcomm unveiled a successor this Q4 2023. Behold the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 launched!

This processor is fabbed on TSMC's 4nm process and uses a 1+3+4 CPU design. The prime core comes with a 2.63GHz clock speed while the 3x performance cores use 2.4GHz frequency. The remaining efficiency cores on the other hand are clocked at 1.8GHz.

Based on the chipmaker's claims, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 will offer a 15 percent performance improvement in CPU and 50 percent faster Adreno GPU versus the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. The new chip also brings a 20 percent efficient power draw as per Qualcomm's tests.

The Qualcomm Hexagon NPU inside the SD 7 Gen 3 is expected to provide 60 percent more rapid AI performance per watt than the SD 7 Gen 1. Meanwhile, the Adreno GPU is compatible with the OpenGL ES 3.2, OpenCL 2.0 FP, and Vulkan 1.3 APIs.

Furthermore, Qualcomm says the chip supports up to 4K resolution on displays at a 60Hz refresh rate or FHD+ resolution at a faster 168Hz refresh rate.

Meanwhile, the chip is equipped with Qualcomm Spectra ISP which can handle up to 200MP main camera and record 4K HDR video at a 60Hz refresh rate.

In terms of connectivity, the SD 7 Gen 3 is equipped with Snapdragon X63 5G Modem-RF System which can do up to 5Gbps download speeds over mmWave and sub-6GHz brands. There's also support for WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 standards.

When it comes to the first phones that will have the SD 7 Gen 3, HONOR and vivo are the listed OEMs to feature it.
