Xiaomi introduces its flagship phone for the year 2024 dubbed as the 14 Ultra featuring major upgrades.
Xiaomi's top-end phones are geared towards mobile photography enthusiasts. With that, the brand has equipped the Xiaomi 14 Ultra with a 50MP Sony LYT-900 1-inch sensor with OIS, f/1.63-4.0 variable aperture, and ADL ultra-low reflection coating.
According to the phone maker, this main sensor upgrade brings 43 percent power efficiency and achieves a native dynamic range of 14EV, 9.5x compared to IMX989 thus producing rich details in both highlights and shadows. They also mentioned that this sensor is 205 percent better than that of the iPhone 15 Pro Max in terms of extensive light intake.
The rest of the cameras are 50MP ultra-wide-angle cameras + 50MP f/1.8 telephoto sensors, OIS with 3.2x zoom + 50MP f/2.5 periscope telephoto shooter with 5x zoom. All of these have Leica Summilux lenses. For selfies, the phone has a 32MP sensor.
Moving to its design, the smartphone still uses that familiar leather at the back and the large circular camera island.
Xiaomi also introduced the Dragon Armor Architecture uses a high-strength aluminum alloy frame and Ceramic Glass. The brand claimed the bending resistance of the body frame is 8 percent better than the iPhone's titanium middle frame while the glass's drop resistance is 10x higher.
In front, the phone uses a 6.73-inch micro-curved OLED panel. The said tech features the appearance of a flat-screen but with the tactile feel of a curved one. The display also has 2K 3200 x 1440 resolution, LTPO 1-120Hz VRR, 3000 nits brightness, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, 1920Hz PWM Dimming, DC Dimming and Xiaomi Ceramic Glass protection.
Inside, the device has the 3.3GHz Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 8-core chip with new Adreno, 12GB/16GB LPDDR5x RAM, 256GB/512GB/1TB UFS 4.0 storage, 5,300mAh battery with 90W wired charging, 80W wireless charging, 10W reverse wireless charging. It also has a Xiaomi Surge G1 battery management chip to ensure a longer lifespan.
Other features are an In-Display fingerprint reader, Hi-Res audio, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, 4x microphones, IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
For connectivity, it has 5G SA/NSA, dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, NFC, and dual satellite communication (special edition only).

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra variants are going to be available in China on February 27. The Special Edition will be available starting March 12.
No word yet for its availability outside China. We will keep you posted once we hear of it.
