Lenovo has introduced its own version of laptops powered by AMD Ryzen chips with AI called the  ThinkPad P14s Gen 5.

Lenovo ThinkPad P14s Gen 5 launched!

The laptop maker said they designed this device for professionals who are looking for "top-notch performance" on the go.

Similar to its siblings, the ThinkPad P14s Gen 5 adopts the traditional boxy design of the ThinkPad series for durability purposes.

In terms of display, the laptop has a 14-inch screen with an FHD touch or non-touch option with 3M Optical Film solution which increases brightness to 400 nits while being 16 percent efficient in power draw. Buyers also have the option to upgrade to a 2.8K resolution OLED panel with X-Rite factory color calibration.

Inside, it is powered by AMD Ryzen PRO 8040HS-series chips with built-in AI capabilities thanks to its integrated NPU for optimized performance in AI workflows. According to Lenovo, these chips have 39 AI TOPS of processing power which is 3.5x higher compared to the previous generation to deliver remarkable generative AI experiences on computers.

The company added this cutting-edge technology will improve the user experience by increasing performance for AI-enabled collaboration, content production, data analysis, and other applications. Furthermore, the integration of AMD PRO technology provides business-grade manageability tools for IT administrators to expedite operations, built-in security measures that work in tandem with ThinkShield to guard against sophisticated threats and unmatched reliability for enterprise software.

Moving forward, the AMD chip is paired with up to 92GB DDR5 RAM, up to 2TB PCIe 4x4 performance SSD, 39.3WHr battery for lightweight mobility, or the higher 52.5WHr for longer working periods.

The laptop features a 5MP IR camera with a privacy shutter for video conferences.

For I/O it has 2x USB-C with Thunderbolt 4, PD 3.0, DP 1.4. It also has 2x USB-A, RJ45, HDMI 2.1, 3.5mm audio jack, optional nano SIM and smart card reader.

For wireless connectivity, it has WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, optional 4G or 5G, and NFC.

In terms of software, the laptop runs Windows 11  Pro or Home.

There's no official pricing yet and the laptop will be on an order basis in the Philippines. However, the brand noted buyers "may expect" a starting price of PHP 82,000.

Meanwhile, Lenovo noted that the ThinkPad P14s expands the company's AMD-powered professional workstationon lineup which includes the ThinkPad P16s Gen 2, ThinkStation P620, and the latest ThinkStation P8 desktop PC with AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7000 WX-Series with up to 96 cores and 192 threads.
