Qualcomm has quietly introduced the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 a new chip to power mid-range devices. The chip maker also skipped the Gen 2 naming.
This new SoC offers improved AI performance for tasks such as activity tracking and noise cancellation for calls. The chip appeared to have some similarities with the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 but comes with a tweaked-down CPU and display support.
It comes with 8-core CPUs comprising 4x 2.4GHz Cortex-A78 and 4x 1.8GHz Cortex A-55. This configuration kind of mirrors the 7s Gen 2 but slightly won't match the efficiency cores of 1.95GHz. It is also limited to 120Hz refresh rate support unlike the other with 144Hz.
The chip supports Adreno GPU and uses LPDDR4X or LPDDR5 RAM options and UFS 3.1 storage.
For cameras, it can work with a 48MP single sensor for continuous read, 32MP and 16MP dual sensors, or up to 200MP.
Connectivity-wise, it has support for WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.
You can view the processor's listing at Qualcomm's website. Currently, it is unknown which phone brands will use the new Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. Stay tuned.
