Yet more powerful: Apple launches smaller Mac mini w/ M4 chip

US tech giant Apple has launched the all-new Mac mini, smaller than its predecessors but is promising as it is packed with the powerful M4 and new M4 Pro chips.

More mighty, more mini"

While sporting a form of just 5 by 5 inches, Apple said that the new Mac mini powered by the M4 could deliver up to 1.8x faster CPU performance and 2.2x faster GPU performance over the M1 model.

With M4 Pro, users can even expect a massive performance increase, allowing them to manage “more demanding workloads,” the company said in a statement.

Small yet capable

Apple said the device has front and back ports for seamless connectivity and, for the first time, includes Thunderbolt 5 for faster data transfer speeds on the M4 Pro model.

It can also support the group’s Apple Intelligence, designed to protect users’ privacy.

The new Mac mini delivers gigantic performance in an unbelievably small design thanks to the power efficiency of Apple silicon and an innovative new thermal architecture. Combined with the performance of M4 and the new M4 Pro chip, enhanced connectivity on both the front and back, and the arrival of Apple Intelligence, Mac mini is more capable and versatile than ever, and there is nothing else like it, said John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering.

Other key details

Mac mini with M4 features a 10-core CPU, 10-core GPU, and now starts with 16GB of unified memory.

The Mac mini with M4 Pro, meanwhile, flaunts a CPU with up to 14 cores, comprising 10 performance cores and four efficiency cores, alongside a more powerful GPU with up to 20 cores.
