Glow-in-the-dark! Nothing Phone (2a) Plus Community Edition announced, priced at PHP 24,990

In collaboration with its community, Nothing launched a special Phone (2a) Plus version.

Nothing Phone (2a) Plus Community Edition is a glow-in-the-dark smartphone

Nothing said that the company co-created the product with its most talented followers, who worked directly with the Nothing Team.

Its community was involved in developing this smartphone through hardware, wallpapers, packaging, and even marketing.

Six months, four winners, and one unique product

For this project, over 900 entries were submitted from 47 countries around the world. The winners include Astrid Vanhuyse & Kenta Akasaki, Andrés Mateos, Ian Henry Simmonds, and Sonya Palma.

The outcome? The Nothing Phone (2a) Plus Community Edition, features a unique glow-in-the-dark design.

The hardware design utilizes a green-tinted phosphorescent material finish that emits a soft, glow-in-the-dark light. This technology is purely analog, requiring no power source, and can last for hours, gradually fading until it recharges in daylight.

For the wallpaper, a combination of AI tools and digital design was used to create the "Connected Collection," which includes six exclusive wallpapers.

A new unique smartphone for Nothing fans

Meanwhile, the packaging design adopts a "Less is More" philosophy, incorporating a graphically bold yet simple super-macro crop design. The final packaging also features reflective elements to complement the phone's hardware design.

For marketing, the concept is "Find your light. Capture your light". The winner worked with Nothing's Creative Team to develop a suite of elevated assets, including a film campaign and digital assets that supported the product's launch.

Nothing said that they will continue to work with community members to co-develop software and content.
