The company also showcased the EVS Dynamic Shot tech, which captures subjects in motion, and the Tap Any Zoom Dual Prism Telephoto solution, which enables more stable long-range shooting.
TECNO explains that the "Image Matrix" is the "brain" for all AI-powered imaging on its upcoming phones. It "reimagines" the whole imaging process to optimize computational power and deliver rapid yet high-quality image processing.
This solution is based on the optimization of the data pipeline with newly upgraded TAPS (TECNO Algorithm Process Stack) underlying architecture as the technical foundation.
According to the company, it builds a "fully intelligent" process from image capture to post-processing to provide global users an excellent shooting experience.
This tech is based on four stages of image creation.
The first layer is the Hardware Foundation Layer with four major image processing units the camera hardware, display, SOC, and sensor.
The second layer is the De-construction Layer composed of 10 elemental imaging algorithms such as noise reduction, stabilization, and correction.
The third layer is the Engine Re-construction Layer using the TAPS (TECNO Algorithm Process Stack) that supports the transformation of AI capabilities to allow algorithm processing to be performed well and quickly. This layer features four AI-driven imaging engines: AI RAW enhances low-light and backlit scenes while improving image clarity, sharpness, and color; AI SNAP enables lightning-fast image capture without lag, ensuring that users never miss a moment; AIGC Studio empowers a suite of tools for image enhancement and generation; and AI UT (Universal Tone) automatically restores and enhances skin tones, ensuring that portrait images reflect true-to-life beauty.
These optimize colors, scene, and image quality with high dynamic night view capabilities.
The last layer is the Application Layer where users will enjoy the advantages mentioned earlier.
The Image Matrix is the backbone of the company's new and optimized functions like AI Shooting Quality++, Portrait Master, Video Master, AI Snap, and AI Image Studio.
Meanwhile, the EVS Dynamic Snapshot promises to prevent moving objects from getting blurry while shooting.
TECNO claims that this technology has overcome the limitations of traditional snapshot methods and light intake constraints of compact cameras to enhance the camera's ability to capture motion.
The company explains that while traditional cameras collect pixels frame-by-frame, TECNO captures the complete motion path of a subject. It uses EVS pixels to record motion data. By combining traditional CMOS with DVS high-frequency circuits, EVS Dynamic Snapshot Captures ultra-dense motion data.
It uses high dynamic tracking to intelligently lock onto moving subjects, while also focusing on pixel changes at an ultra-high frequency, making it possible to take sharp, full-frame images, even of fast-moving subjects.
Its AI algorithms combine static objects captured by the RGB camera with moving objects detected by EVS. By utilizing motion data provided by EVS, the RGB camera’s handling of motion blur for moving subjects is optimized, resulting in a single, sharp, and complete photo.

TECNO promises that this is good enough to capture a bird in flight or even high-speed motosports action.

Tap Any Zoom Dual Prism Telephoto |
One of the more intriguing AI imaging techs they introduced earlier is the Tap Any Zoom Dual Prism Telephoto.
This tech uses a dual prism design, lens-shift optical image stabilization, and intelligent AI algorithms to allow users to capture "incredible" telephoto shots.
How? Simply double-tap to a subject you want to capture in either 1x or 0.6x scene mode. Then, the camera will instantly zoom to the optimal level of up to 30x for fast and precise framing.
The lens-shift optical image stabilization and the dual-prism wide swing angle will effectively mitigate vibrations for sharp, stable, and clear shots.
TECNO's dual prism tech offers an expansive shooting area with up to 14x the zoom of s standard 125mm focal length lens to allow ultra-wide-angle capture with greater focal length and perspective. It also has a long-range scanning function and 400MP pixel auto-assembly for high-resolution imagery.
Meanwhile, the telephoto sweep function stitches full-frame shots without distortion to create high-quality shots with re-framing freedom.
We're excited to share our newest technologies with industry experts and enthusiasts here at Future Lens 2024, said Huang Xiao Han. At this year’s event, we are showcasing technologies that reimagine the way we shoot with our smartphones. Guided by our new AI Vision strategy, TECNO is offering new ideas about how we can leverage new AI technologies alongside our advanced imaging technologies to deliver even better imaging experiences for our users.
These new technologies are some of the fruits of the company's heavy investments in mobile AI technology in line with its new "AI Vision" strategy aiming to practically implement AI in imaging technology.
TECNO said that they already have a prototype with these technologies. The actual product will be available in 2025.
