During the launch event of the PHANTOM V Flip2 5G, we had the opportunity to discuss with TECNO executives the possibility of introducing the Fold2 variant in the country.

According to TECNO, they are attempting to secure stock for the Philippine market but emphasized that there would be a limited number of units. The company also mentioned that if they cannot secure stock, there may not be a release in the Philippines at all.

If they succeed in bringing the Fold2 to the Philippine market, TECNO hopes to launch it by early 2025.

As for pricing, TECNO did not provide a specific figure but expressed its intention to keep it as close as possible to the price of its predecessor.

The first PHANTOM V Fold was noted for being the most affordable foldable device last year.

A price increase is expected due to improvements in durability and incremental upgrades in the battery, camera, and AI features.

To recap, the new foldable device maintains some of the core features from its predecessor, such as the 4nm Dimensity 9000+ chipset, a 7.85-inch inner display, and a 6.42-inch outer screen.

The distinction lies in the device's slimmer profile, measuring 6.1mm when unfolded and 12mm when folded. TECNO has also managed to lower the weight from 300 grams to 249 grams, which is noteworthy considering the inclusion of a larger battery.

The phone's durability has also been revamped with an Aerospace-Grade Hinge designed to withstand 400,000 folds. Additionally, the main body is constructed from a robust combination of layered fiberglass, high-strength aluminum, and Titanium Alloy.

The device offers 12 GB of RAM + 12GB of extended RAM and 512GB of storage. It comes with a larger 5,750mAh battery, supporting 70W wired and 15W wireless charging.

The PHANTOM V Fold2 is equipped with a triple camera system that includes a 50MP main wide camera, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, a 50MP portrait shooter, and an LED flash.

It also has 32MP + 32MP front-facing cameras for selfies.

TECNO also highlighted AI features such as the Ella AI assistant, AI Summary, AI Translation, and AI Writing.

The device also has an AI Artboard designed for large screens and an AI Wallpaper that allows theme customization through simple text prompts. Additionally, the phone employs AI to enhance Universal Tone Technology, ensuring accurate skin tones in photographs.

Connectivity-wise, the phone has 5G, 4G LTE, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, NFC and dual SIM.

The PHANTOM V Fold2 runs Android 14 out of the box for OS.
