Apple Intelligence on Mac

Apple's own AI assistant

We recently received a system update on our MacBook Air which included the Apple Intelligence feature.

To recall, Apple introduced Apple Intelligence last year. It combines the power of generative models with an understanding of your personal context to deliver useful and relevant intelligence.

It is designed to understand and create language and images; prioritize and summarize notifications, mail, and messages; and draw from the personal information on your device to simplify and accelerate everyday tasks.

If you also have a MacBook, follow these steps to activate it:

  • Go to Settings
  • Tap Apple Intelligence & Siri
  • Toggle the button beside Apple Intelligence

Apple Intelligence is available in macOS 15.1 or later on Mac models with M1 or later.

Take note that Apple Intelligence is currently in beta. It uses generative models, and outputs may be inaccurate, unexpected, or offensive.

So far, Apple Intelligence can be used for proofreading your work such as emails, summarizing text, composing content from scratch, and generating Smart Reply in Messages. It can also be used in Photos to find specific pictures.

Another highlight of Apple Intelligence is that it can be used with ChatGPT from OpenAI. This allows users to tap ChatGPT to provide answers when that might be helpful for certain requests, and compose text or images from just a description.

The ChatGPT extension is available with Apple Intelligence in macOS 15.2 or later on Mac models with M1 or later.

According to the tech giant, more Apple Intelligence features will become available in the coming months.

What do you think guys?
