Tiny capacity?

According to a blog post from South Korea, parts companies suggest that the iPhone 17 Air might use a 2,800mAh battery capacity.

A 2,800mAh battery is quite small by today's standards, especially since most smartphone brands are adopting higher capacities without significantly increasing thickness, thanks to advancements in SiC (Silicon-Carbon) battery technology.

Even when compared to the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge with 5.8mm slimness and a 3,900mAh battery capacity, 2,800mAh is small.

Thankfully, the report said that there is a chance for a higher-density battery with an increase of 15 to 20 percent, which may increase it to a maximum capacity of 3,360mAh.

Regardless, that capacity is still disappointingly small unless Apple does something groundbreaking to make its actual battery performance better in real-life usage.

The iPhone 17 Air is also rumored to be just 5.5 mm slim and 145 grams light.
