The new premium device is marketed as the world's lightest large-format foldable phone. The device weighs 217g in its Titanium finish and incorporates several industry-leading innovations. It is available in Titanium, Clear White, and Pine Green color options.
Its durability is enhanced by a reengineered hinge constructed from FS55 high-strength steel and carbon fiber.

Meanwhile, vivo claims the phone is the first foldable to achieve IPX8, IPX9, and IPX9+ water resistance ratings, capable of enduring 80 degrees Celsius water and high-pressure jets, along with an IP5X dust resistance rating.
The device features an 8.03-inch inner AMOLED display with a 2K+ resolution of 2480 x 2200 pixels, a 1-120Hz adaptive LTPO refresh rate, and a peak brightness of up to 4,500 nits.
Its cover screen uses a 6.53-inch FHD+ LTPO AMOLED panel with the same 120Hz refresh rate and brightness level. Both displays offer 10.7 billion colors, Dolby Vision, and high-frequency PWM dimming to reduce eye strain. The inner screen is protected by UTG glass, while the outer display uses second-generation Armor Glass for added durability.
Powering the X Fold 5 is a 3.3GHz 4nm Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage.
The phone is equipped with a 6,000mAh Blue Ocean battery, developed in partnership with CATL. Utilizing 4th-gen silicon anode material and 2nd-gen semi-solid-state battery technology, it achieves an energy density of 866Wh/L and functions in extreme cold as low as -30 degrees Celsius. Charging options include 80W wired, 40W wireless, and reverse wireless charging.
For imaging, the vivo X Fold 5 boasts a 50MP Sony IMX921 main sensor with OIS + 50MP ultra-wide camera + 50MP IMX882 3x periscope telephoto sensor with up to 100x digital zoom.
Furthermore, ZEISS optics and software enhancements enable professional-grade portrait modes, macro shots, and improved low-light performance. Both the inner and outer displays feature 20MP front-facing cameras.
Additional features include dual stereo speakers and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. Connectivity-wise, the foldable has WiFi 6, 5G, 4G, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS with NavIC support, NFC, and dual SIM.
For OS, the vivo X Fold 5 runs Android 15 with OriginOS 5 skin on top.
The company also added a productivity-focused feature called "Atomic Workbench," supporting up to five simultaneous apps in split-screen mode with drag-and-drop functionality.
The phone also integrates with Apple devices, offering compatibility with AirPods, Apple Watch (Series 6 and later), and Mac file management, including drag-and-drop and screen extension capabilities.

The vivo X Fold 5 is now available for pre-order in China, while the sale begins on July 2. Apparently, the brand has not mentioned availability for other markets yet.
