GLOBE TELECOM'S STATEMENT ON THE KONEKTADONG PINOY ACT

The said act lapsed into law last August 24, 2025, when the Malacanang did not sign it.

While the Konektadong Pinoy Act aims to broaden digital access for Filipinos, Globe warned that its current form could weaken cybersecurity, undermine national safeguards, and unsettle the industry vital to the country's economy and security.

For cyber security and national security, Globe said that the law leaves gaps in the vetting of new entrants, heightening the risk that inadequately screened operators may gain access to critical infrastructure.

There is even a two-year grace period for cybersecurity certification, which may create a prolonged window for exploitation.

The Cybercrime Prevention Act, the Data Privacy Act, the Anti-Terrorism Act, and the Anti-OSAEC/CSAEM Law all require immediate and effective protection of citizens and state systems. This contradicts those mandates.

Globe also said that the law permits unregulated use of spectrum by satellite operators.

The telco giant also noted that the law disregards a long-established safeguard of oversight by removing the congressional franchise requirement.

On the other hand, Globe said that it is committed to engaging government and multi-sectoral stakeholders to ensure that the law advances its intended goals without compromising security, stability, or consumer welfare.
