HONOR Watch GS 5 launched: Cardiac arrest screening, 23-day battery, and 44mm case

Apart from HONOR Magic8 Pro Air and Magic8 RSR Porsche edition, the brand also introduced a new smartwatch with advanced health tracking.

The new wearable is called the Watch GS 5. It features a 1.32-inch circular AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 1,500 nits.

Its case is constructed from aluminum alloy and measures 44mm, while the back panel uses reinforced polymer fiber. The watch weighs 26 grams, is 9.9mm thick, and includes a single side button.

It carries an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, along with a 5ATM water resistance rating. It is available with either black or khaki leather straps.

According to HONOR, the Watch GS 5 is the only wearable in the industry that supports research for sudden cardiac arrest screening while also providing cardiovascular risk assessment. 

The company states that its research team can conduct telephone follow-ups with users identified as high risk. 

The device offers early warnings for conditions such as atrial fibrillation, sleep apnea, premature beats, and irregular heart rhythms. It also provides continuous health monitoring for blood oxygen levels, stress, sleep, heart rate variability, and heart rate.

Powering the watch is a 495mAh silicon-carbon battery, which HONOR claims can last up to 23 days without the always-on display enabled, and up to 9 days with it active. 

Connectivity features include Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and support for five satellite positioning systems. 

The watch is equipped with a built-in microphone and speaker for Bluetooth calling and includes 4GB of internal storage. It is compatible with smartphones running Android 6.0 or later and iOS 9.0 or above.
