vivo Y500i launched: SD 4 Gen 2, dual IP rating, 7,200mAh battery

vivo has introduced the Y500i, a new smartphone in China, following last year's releases of the Y500 and Y500 Pro models.

The device highlights extended battery life, large storage options, and 5G connectivity, aimed at users seeking reliability and all-day usability.

Design-wise, it is available in Galaxy Silver, Obsidian Black, and Phoenix Gold colorways. Moreover, the vivo Y500i measures 166.64 x 78.43 x 8.49 mm and weighs approximately 219 grams.

It also uses dual IP rating, which is the IP68 and IP69 combo for dust and water resistance, and has received a 5-star SGS Gold label for drop and shock resistance.

The three colorways

The phone features a 6.75-inch LCD display with an HD+ 1570 x 720 pixels. This screen offers a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1200 nits. 

Internally, the device is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor. It is offered with either 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM or 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM. Storage configurations include 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB, all utilizing UFS 3.1 technology. vivo's memory fusion feature can add up to 12GB or 8GB of virtual RAM, depending on the model.

Among the highlights is the 7,200mAh single-cell lithium-ion battery, which supports USB-C 44W wired charging.

For photography, the rear camera system consists of a single 50MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and autofocus. The front-facing camera is 5MP with an f/2.2 aperture.

Other features mentioned are a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, 3.5mm audio jack, and bottom-firing speakers.

Connectivity features are WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, multi-system GPS, a USB-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, an infrared blaster, and standard sensors.

Finally, the handset operates on OriginOS 6, based on Android 16.
