The presentation introduced new on-device AI capabilities, provided updates on the jointly developed Omni Model, and highlighted progress in cross-ecosystem connectivity. The companies outlined their shared approach to developing AI-enabled mobile devices.
Development of On-Device AI Capabilities
OPPO is pursuing an AI strategy focused on "New Computing, New Perception, and New Ecosystem," with emphasis on on-device computing. According to Liao, the company views on-device computing as a means to enable low-latency and personalized AI functions.
This shared vision underpins the deep collaboration between OPPO and MediaTek on flagship chip platforms, accelerating the transition of on-device AI from technical concept to scalable deployment, Liao said.
Using the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 platform, OPPO has developed on-device AI Translate and AI Portrait Glow features, which the company states perform at levels comparable to cloud-based solutions. These features are scheduled for release on the OPPO Find X9 series via the ColorOS 16 update.

| On-device Omni Model |
According to OPPO, the on-device AI Translate operates without network connectivity and demonstrates an average 15 percent improvement in accuracy compared to conventional approaches. It is designed to maintain stable output in areas with weak or no signal.
The AI Portrait Glow feature processes images in challenging lighting conditions. The company reports it analyzes and reconstructs scene illumination to improve photos taken in dim or backlit environments, functioning without requiring network access.
The two firms also presented a technology preview of Omni, described as an on-device full-modal AI model for multi-modal understanding. The model supports voice, video, and text inputs, and can perform live scene analysis and interactive question-and-answer functions on a device.
Demonstrations of Ecosystem Integration
Attendees at the MediaTek booth were able to test the Find X9 Pro's on-device AI features and telephoto imaging capabilities, which include the OPPO Hasselblad Teleconverter. The Reno15 Pro was also on display, featuring AI imaging tools such as AI Motion Photo Eraser, AI Motion Photo Popout, and AI Flash Photography.

OPPO announced that the Find X9 series will support Android Quick Share, developed in collaboration with MediaTek and Google. The feature allows file transfers between OPPO smartphones and devices running iOS, iPadOS, and macOS without requiring third-party applications. The update is expected to begin rollout in March.
The OPPO Find X9 Pro was nominated for the "Best Smartphone" award at the GLOMO Awards during MWC 2026, receiving recognition for its performance, imaging capabilities, and AI integration.
OPPO and MediaTek stated their intention to continue collaboration on on-device AI development and related technologies.
