Pokemon Pokopia sells over 2 Million copies in 4 days on Nintendo Switch 2

The Pokémon Company and Nintendo announced that the recently released Pokémon Pokopia sold more than 2 million copies in its first four days.

A new Phenomenon?

Originally released on March 5, 2026, and half of the sales came from outside Japan. These numbers include both physical and digital downloads. 

Pokémon Pokopia is a fun, cozy life-simulation game - the first one in the series. Players pay as Ditto that wakes up from a long sleep and turns into a human. The land around you is dry and empty, with withered grass and trees. Only one Pokémon lives there, a friendly guide called Professor Tangrowth.

Players play as a Ditto that transforms into a person

Your job is to turn the whole place upside down and turn it into a happy utopia. You team up with Pokémon friends to: 

1. Gather wood, stone, berries, and other materials.

2. Craft tools, furniture, and cozy homes for everyone

3. Grow vegetables and plants

4. Learn special moves from Pokémon pals (like Bulbasaur's Leafage to make greenery grow fast, or Squirtle's Water Gun to bring dried-up spots back to life)

Pokémon Pokopia's sandbox is massive

The game clocks matches in real time, so the sun rises and sets, weather changes, and new Pokémon appear naturally as the day goes on. You can explore at your own slow pace, build the water you want, and make your own town. Over time, you invite more Pokémon to live there - and up to 4 of your friends can join you with local or online play to help build together.

It feels peaceful and relaxing - perfect for chilling out while you craft, create, and hang out with Pokémon.

The game was made by the Pokémon Company, GAME FREAK, and KOEI TECMO GAMES.

Players need an internet connection and at least 10GB of free space to download the full game.
