Slightly faster chips for mid-range soon?
Both chipsets retain the same CPU configuration as their predecessors: an octa-core setup comprising four Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.6 GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores running at 2.0 GHz. The GPU remains a Mali-G615 MC2.
According to MediaTek, AI performance has improved by 7%, with the company noting that the gain is especially noticeable in photography-related AI tasks.
For gaming, the chipsets incorporate MediaTek's HyperEngine and Adaptive Gaming Technology 3.0, which dynamically adjust performance and power draw during gameplay.
The primary upgrade comes in connectivity. The new chips incorporate a 5G R17 modem, replacing the R16 modem used in previous models. MediaTek states that the updated modem offers better power efficiency, enhanced performance through 3CC carrier aggregation, and a 20% performance improvement when in transit. The chips are also designed to recover network connections more quickly after exiting a dead zone.
The difference between the two models lies in display support: the Dimensity 7450X supports dual-display setups, making it suitable for budget-friendly foldable smartphones.
Dimensity 7450 and 7450X key features:
- 4nm process
- 4x Cortex-A78 at 2.6GHz, 4x Cortex-A55 at 2.0GHz
- Mali-G615 MC2 GPU
- Improved AI performance by 7%
- HyperEngine + Adaptive Gaming 3.0
- New efficient 5G R17 modem
- 3CC carrier aggregation, 20% better performance on commutes
- Dual display support for Dimensity 7450X
Devices featuring the new chipsets are expected to reach the market in the coming months.
