More price hikes soon?

In a statement, outgoing Apple CEO and future executive chairman Tim Cook said that,

Unfortunately, price increases are unavoidable.

We're doing our best to mitigate the huge increases that are being passed to us, and we've been trying to shield our customers from the increases, but the situation has become unsustainable.

In another statement, he said,

We have now reached a point where we need to begin raising prices on some products, including today’s increases for iPad and Mac.

By the sound of it, the recent hikes may just be the first round of price increases driven by the ongoing global memory shortage fueled by AI data centers. This problem is not unique to Apple, everyone is affected.

With Apple signaling more hikes beyond last week's surge, buyers who need a device may be better off purchasing sooner rather than later.

Also, keep an eye on promos and consider older models for better value.
