AWS plans Philippine cloud region

Amazon Web Services (AWS) executives revealed plans to establish an AWS Region in the Philippines.

This was revealed during a courtesy call of the executives with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., wherein they presented the company's proposed regional digital infrastructure investments.

The proposed investment is expected to strengthen cloud infrastructure and cybersecurity, create high-value jobs, expand digital skills, and support the country’s goal of becoming a regional hub for digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence.

Marcos also highlighted the country’s investment-ready environment through key reforms and initiatives such as the CREATE MORE Act, Green Lanes, the National Fiber Backbone, the Konektadong Pinoy Act, and the Philippines AI+ Infrastructure Masterplan 2026–2033.
