Google has introduced the Fitbit Air Special Edition Pokémon Sleep, a limited-edition version of its Fitbit Air wearable designed to integrate with the mobile game Pokémon Sleep. The release coincides with Pokémon's 30th anniversary this year.

The device uses the same lightweight, adjustable design as the standard Fitbit Air, intended for continuous overnight wear.

The special-edition band is finished in a blue colorway and includes a printed design referencing a sleeping Pikachu, a character from the Pokémon Sleep game.

Sleep tracking is handled through the Google Health app, which uses algorithms to monitor light and deep sleep stages and provide users with sleep-related metrics and recommendations. 

A feature called Google Health Coach analyzes sleep trends over time and offers personalized suggestions. Buyers of the special-edition band will also receive a three-month trial of Google Health Premium, a subscription tier offering additional health-tracking tools.

The device connects to the Pokémon Sleep app via Health Connect on Android or Apple Health on iOS, syncing sleep-duration data to the game. According to Google, the integration works with Pixel and other Fitbit wearables, not just the special-edition model.

Within the app, users' recorded sleep generates in-game elements: virtual Pokémon gather around a character called Snorlax based on the user's sleep patterns, and a calculated "Sleep Score"—derived from tracked sleep duration—contributes to an in-game statistic called "Drowsy Power," which influences which Pokémon appear in subsequent sessions.

Setup requires linking the Google Health app to Health Connect or Apple Health, then pairing Google Health with the Pokémon Sleep app through the game's settings menu. Once connected, sleep data recorded by the tracker syncs to the game automatically.
