Is this a better child safeguard?

Roblox has reached an agreement with Philippine authorities on new child safety measures and plans to establish a local office in the country this October, following discussions with government agencies aimed at strengthening online protections for minors.

Under the agreement, the company will incorporate the Philippine National ID system into its account verification process, implement stricter chat moderation, and introduce AI-driven age verification tools. Users who do not complete identity verification will face restricted platform access. Roblox will also appoint a local compliance officer to liaise directly with regulators.

Meta also participated in the discussions, committing to enhanced parental control features, quicker removal of harmful content, and closer cooperation with law enforcement. Both companies agreed to adopt stricter age-verification protocols and communication restrictions to better protect younger users.

Roblox's planned Philippine office will oversee regulatory compliance and serve as a direct point of contact with government officials, which the company says will support faster responses to local concerns and more effective enforcement of safety policies.

The new measures are expected to take effect by October, when Philippine users will see updated account requirements and additional safety protections as the platform aligns with local regulatory standards.
