New Pokémon Series lands on Disney+

Disney+ has announced a global distribution deal with The Pokémon Company International that includes a new stop-motion series, "Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch'd & Pichu," debuting worldwide in 2027. Created by animation studio Aardman, the series will stream exclusively on Disney+ Philippines starting that year.

The Series follows Sirfetch'd and Pichu as they journey through the Galar Region to help and protect other Pokémon. Their efforts rarely go as planned, but the adventures, marked by peril, alliances, rivalries, and other Pokémon encounters, help forge their friendship along the way.

Ayo Davis, president of Disney Kids & Family, said Pokémon continues to resonate with longtime fans while staying relevant to younger audiences, adding that the series brings Aardman's stop-motion style and a fresh perspective to the franchise's characters.

Phil Rynda, Pokémon's director of original animation, said the series tells its stories from the Pokémon's own perspective, crediting Aardman's filmmakers for bringing the Galar Region to life in an immersive way.

Rynda joined a panel at Pokémon XP with the Series' Aardman creative team: director Tom Parkinson, Creative Director for IP Development Nat McKay, and Model Making Creative Lead James Young. The panel discussed the show's character, comedy, and craftsmanship, and debuted its official teaser trailer.

The Series was created by The Pokémon Company International and produced by Aardman, acquired by Disney Kids & Family through the global distribution deal, and is set to debut on Disney+ Philippines in 2027.
