Ekotek Firmlink 2 Port USB Wall Charger Review, Two Is Better Than One!

Ekotek, a well known maker of apple level quality yet affordable gadgets recently launched a new product from their Firmlink series called 2 Port USB Wall Charger. It is a well thought USB wall charger that enables you to charge two devices at the same time with the promise of safety and efficiency. I got a unit for my personal use and now here's what I think about this device.

The packaging

Just like most Ekotek products, this 2 port charger comes in a great looking package. It contains print of the specs and description of the product that you should know.

The glossy finish of the 2 port charger

It's compact, light and extremely portable in a low profile cube design. It also has semi rounded corners and glossy finish that adds class to its looks. The Ekotek 2 Port USB Charger is also made out of high quality plastic and "safety circuits" inside to ensure protection when using it.

It also has a fold-able plug for better portability and space saving

Performance

The main thing that I like with this small device is it has 2 charging ports in a compact design. That enables me to charge two devices at the same time that doesn't have to consume outlet space. It features one fast charging 2.1 A port and one standard 1 A port.

Based on my experience, so far so good. It was able to match the charging time of my 2.1 A charger from my Honor 6 Plus. The 1 A port on the other hand was also able to deliver the expected charging time. My tool of measurement there if it's really 1 A is my power sensitive portable pocket WiFi that automatically turns off when I'm not using a 1 A charger.

The only thing that I see here as a weakness is the ports doesn't have labels so it will be a bit hard to distinguish if it's either 2.1 A or 1 A.

Disclaimer: I do not have a tool of exact measurement as of the moment, so everything I said here is based from my experience.

Pro's - Bargain level pricing, performance, compact form factor

Con's - Glossy finish is prone to hairline scratches (minor), there's no 2.1 A and 1 A marking to easily distinguish the port difference

Verdict

At the bargain price of just 349 Pesos, I never expected to get a performance this good. Tge Firmlink 2 Port USB Wall Charger can even compete with other products with 2 to 3 times it's price. It's also so affordable for a branded product with great quality that will make you forget getting one from "Tiangges" and other un-trusted / non branded products. So Ekotek, shut up and take my money.
