Life After 800 MB Data Cap Of Smart Surfmax, It Is Not That Bad!

Recently, most of the Smart mobile internet users freaked out when we discovered that there is an 800 MB data cap attached with the new Surfmax plan. Why? It's simple, you can't do a lot of things with that limit, especially for those individuals who work a lot outdoors.

Yesterday, I took the initiative to try it out and test it myself as it concerns me too being a mobile blogger who does a lot of work which needs a lot of data on the go. I tested it with my Smart Bro LTE data SIM that's attached with an open line Huawei pocket WiFi. I connected 3 devices (laptop and two smartphones) and used a lot of data starting 9 am.

The cap isn't that bad after all!

Honestly, I panicked already when I'm nearing the 800 MB mark under 4 hours of usage. Imagine if you're the type of person who'll be capped in that short period of time, I'm sure you'll be frustrated.

The result

Fortunately, my internet after reaching 800 MB is still decently usable. From my usual 4-5 MB of speed, I got a speed test result of a little under 2 MB which is definitely not that bad. That's still good enough for opening emails, social media. general browsing and minimal You-tubing.

Ending thoughts

While I still don't like the idea of "getting capped", this throttle is still better than the other caps we experienced before. However, I'm still hoping that Smart Communications will remove this time of limit once they're done fixing their overall service.
