So we set out to get two of the best, the Huawei P9 Plus and the Apple iPhone 7 Plus and pit them against each other in a simple battery drain test. We copied a 1080p video to both phones, and we played it on loop while the audio was fed into headphones.

We looped it overnight and after nine hours the P9 Plus is at twelve percent (12%) while the iPhone 7 Plus is at nine percent (9%).

It is clear that even though the iPhone had a smaller 2900 mAh battery capacity, it can stand toe to toe with the Huawei P9 Plus’s 3450 mAh capacity which is a testament at how efficient the iPhone 7 is.

The Huawei P9 Plus however has a robust battery saving features like the ROG mode, which reduces the screen resolution from 1080 FHD to 720 HD, and it reduces background processes to save power. It also has the Ultra Power Saving mode if you need to extend the battery life even further.

The iPhone on the other hand has a low power mode that reduces the background processes and animations to save power.

It is apparent that either phone is a win and that you won’t lose if you chose either of the two.

Tell us what you guys think? We are open for comments and suggestions? Would you like us to make more tests?
