Microsoft Announces Surface Book 2

Today, Microsoft has announced the follow-up to its flagship notebook PC, the Surface Book 2. It now has better internals, longer battery life and now has two sizes.

Basically, the Surface Book 2 looks mostly the same to the original Surface Book. It still has a removable screen for tablet mode that can be plugged to the keyboard on either side for better battery life and performance. The way the hinge works and the keyboard was upgraded for better performance.

Like what we mentioned earlier, the Surface Book 2 now has two touch screen sizes. There's a 13.5 inch variant w/ 3000 x 2000 resolution and a larger 15 inch model w/ 3420 x 2160 resolution. The 15-inch model has fans for ventilation while the smaller 13.5-inch Surface Book 2 is fanless.

Under the hood, the 13 inch model has Intel Core i5-7300U processor while the 15-inch variant has up to Core i7-8650U. The 13-inch model gets Intel UHD Graphics 620 or GeForce GTX 1050 (2 GB) while the 15-inch variant has Intel UHD Graphics 620 or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (6 GB).

They're paired w/ either 8 GB or 16 GB 1866 MHz LPDDR3 RAM and 256 GB, 512 GB or 1 TB SSD storage. It also has an improved battery life w/ up to 17 hours of video playback w/ the keyboard attached.

It also has 2x USB 3.0, 1x USB Type C, 1x SD card slot, headphone jack, and proprietary Surface connector.

The devices boots w/ Windows 10 OS.

Pre-orders starts this November 9 and devices will ship on November 16. Price starts at USD 1,499 for the 13.5-inch variant and USD 2,499 for the 15-inch model.
