We all remember the debut of the the Notch. It was Apple's iPhone X and it received mix reactions. However, it is becoming more popular with new phone releases.

Recently, the likes of the Vivo V9, OPPO F7, Huawei P20 series, ASUS Zenfone 5 and ZenFone 5Z, among others, all came out with the controversial notch. It is becoming more of a new trend just like the bezel-less craze last year.

The notch also became one of the most polarizing features ever in the smartphone market with some loving it and some absolutely hating it.

The notch has one big advantage that is pretty obvious. It allows manufacturers have a higher screen to body ratios. They can easily implement the ever so popular minimal bezels. However, people does not like it because they find it as a distraction.

Huawei made it as a feature in their P20 series so that you can have a black bar on the status bar to hide the notch. Basically emulating a top forehead bezel.

Now it is not an exclusive Huawei feature as more apps come out to help hide the notch. These apps can be used with any of the smartphones that come out with a notch.

One of the more popular one is the app by Zachary Wander "Nacho Notch".

This is a free app found on the Google Play Store. You just need to install the app. add it on your Quick Settings and press "Hide Notch" and voila! You notch is hidden with a black bar. If you want to get your notch back you just need to press "Show Notch" button found on your quick settings.
