Globe works with DPWH to prevent fiber cut incidents

Globe is working with DPWH to prevent fiber cut incidents during their repairs and activities. These cuts disrupt the telco services of their subscribers.

This is after two separate incidents have damaged Globe's fiber line that resulted into loss of Globe mobile services and affected a lot of broadband and enterprise circuits in some parts of Northern Luzon and Mindanao last week.

On May 21st, a Globe underground fiber was damaged due to DPWH soil testing at Agua Grande, Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte and affected Globe customers in Cagayan, Apayao, Kalinga, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Cauayan City and Tuguegarao.

May 22nd saw parts of Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Zamboanga Sibugay, Pagadian, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte and Misamis Occidental experience service interruptions after another Globe underground fiber was hit by a backhoe during the pile driving project of DPWH at Butadon Bridge.

Globe would like to call the attention of DPWH since the fiber cuts are becoming a major concern and is affecting their business and in providing their subscribers the service they need. They want the DPWH and their contractors to be more careful in the execution of their projects to avoid damaging the fiber lines. 

We have to take note that Globe is the one providing access for both 911 and 8888 government emergency hotlines which could potentially delay emergency response teams and more.
