Huawei P20 and P20 Pro Photography Challenge: Monochrome and Night shots!
In case you missed our reviews, the Huawei P20 and Huawei P20 Pro are two of the best smartphones for overall mobile photography in the world right now.
The talk of the town now is the Huawei P20 Pro. Why? It is the first smartphone to boasts a triple Leica camera setup for photography.
It boasts a 40MP f/1.8 RGB sensor + 20MP f/1.6 monochrome sensor + 8MP f/2.4 OIS telephoto sensor.
The 40MP f/1.8 RGB sensors has an incredibly large 1/1.73-inch size. In comparison, it is twice the size of the Galaxy S9's 1/2.55-inch sensor. It also combines 4 pixels into a single large pixel for better and sharper output.
On the other hand, the Huawei P20 boasts a dual Leica camera setup. It has a primary 12MP f/1.8 RGB sensor to capture colors and a 20MP f/1.6 monochrome sensor for details.
It also has 4D predictive focus, AIS, 2x hybrid zoom, 4K video recording, 960 fps slow motion, and dual tone LED flash.
To put them to the test, we tried the monochrome mode of the Huawei P20 and the handheld night mode of the of the Huawei P20 Pro.

The monochrome shots taken with the P20 are mesmerizing and dramatic at the same time.
Most of our monochrome shots has plenty of details and great dynamic range. This mode is very useful for those in need of amazing black and white photos.
On the other hand, the night mode of the Huawei P20 Pro is really something special. It allowed us to take HANDHELD long exposure shots up to 6 seconds.
With other devices, I'll need a tripod first to make the type of well detailed lowlight shots without blur possible.
Huawei is making creative photography easy even for newbies.
It is simply game-changing!
