Key specs of HiSilicon Kirin 980 leaked!

The Kirin 970 was introduced last year at the IFA 2017. This year, Huawei seems to be gearing up for the Kirin 980 reveal in Berlin as more leaks drop.

IFA 2018: Huawei's HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC is official, the best smartphone processor in the world?

The Kirin 980's key specs has been leaked by different sources from China. This even include the chipset's CPU. Information show of an octa-core CPU with a maximum clock speed of 2.8GHz. This seems to be a combination of 4x Cortex A77 and 4x Cortex A55 cores. This can be a balance of both performance and reliability.

In addition to that, information show that the Kirin 980 will be built on the 7 nm FinFET process by TSMC. There are also rumors about it taking in the latest AI chip technology from Cambricorn that can vastly improve the chip's NPU.

There are also rumors about HiSilicon's very own in-house GPU in the works. It is said to be 1.5 times faster than the Adreno 630 GPU from Qualcomm.

We are speculating that the first phones that will house the Kirin 980 are the Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro.

However, all of these speculations can still change so take these information with a grain of salt.
