Counterpoint just released their latest smartphone research for the Philippine market. It showed that the smartphone market returned to growth in Q2 2018 as well as the top five smartphone brands in the period.

Based on the research, Huawei and Vivo are the biggest winners in the Philippines during the above-mentioned period. YoY, Huawei and Vivo grew by 404 percent and 106 percent, respectively.

The result? Vivo got the number 3 brand position and Huawei entered the top 5 for the first time.

Vivo is riding the high success of the Y53 and Y71. The Y6 and Nova 2 Lite are also doing well for Huawei.
But, Samsung is still the leader. They got 20 percent of the total market share. It is due to the success of the J series which is over 68 percent of Samsung's total shipments in the country.
Cherry Mobile is at number 2 due to the massive success of the Flare J3 and S6.
OPPO is at number 4, thanks to A83 and F7.
MyPhone and Cloudfone failed to enter the top 5 this time. It is due to the onslaught of the Chinese brands.
From 5 percent last Q2 2017, Apple is down to just 2 percent of the local market share.

1. Samsung - 20 percent of the market share
2. Cherry Mobile - 17 percent of the market share
3. Vivo - 16 percent of the market share
4. OPPO - 14 percent of the market share
5. Huawei - 12 percent of the market share
