Pete Lau, CEO of OnePlus discussed in an exclusive interview with PC Mag that the OnePlus 6T sold 249 percent more than the 6 in the United States in its first 30 days.

Globally the OnePlus 6 sold 22 Million units in the first 22 days without the numbers from the United States so no direct comparison was made, yet.

The CEO also mentioned the desire to make a smaller but high quality phone. The challenge is in the battery size and if it was solved, they would indeed make a smaller model.

In another interview with CNET, Pete said through an interpreter: The 5G product is not expected to equate to huge sales. It's still early stage. But by 2020 it could already be very different." Lau then added that the company plans to launch its first 5G phone "before the end of May.

This means that the 5G OnePlus phone will be the first phone in Europe using the newly announced Snapdragon 855 chipset. It is planned to be offered with European carrier 'EE' before it will be offered to the rest of the world.

Pete also estimates that the sales numbers will be conservative because he predicts that the phone would cost 200 to 300 USD more than the current OnePlus 6T's 549 USD price tag. This is because of the premium pricing of 5G components compared to the now standard 4G.

The OnePlus 6T is available in the Philippines through Digital Walker nationwide.

What do you guys think? Do you think 5G will indeed cost that much?
