Lu Weibing revealed the information of Weibo by posting a photo of him and Redmi's crew in Xiaomi's Shenzhen R&D Institute. They've discusses the future of Redmi as a brand and its upcoming devices.

Lu Weibing also said that they will be stepping out the mid-range territory and enter the premium market segment.

Redmi could launch the said smartphone powered by Qualcomm's greatest chip yet, the Snapdragon 855 octa-core processor, this year.

We can expect it to launch as a follow-up to the Redmi Go and Redmi Note 7.

We do not know the rest of the missing details yet. But, since Redmi is Xiaomi Corporation's brand known for releasing value-packed devices, we can expect this upcoming handset to be extra-affordable for the specs.
