PHP 50 cancellation fee to reduce unnecessary cancellations

The ride-hailing company will be imposing a PHP 50 fee on passengers who will cancel rides after 5 minutes of getting an assigned driver for the spent fuel and effort to get to the pickup point.

On the other hand, Grab will also charge the same fee for both passengers and drivers who will not show up at pick-up points.

The PHP 50 fee for being a no-show at the pickup point within 5 minutes of the driver's arrival for GrabCar and 3 minutes for GrabShare. The fee will go to the driver as compensation.

But, there will be no fees on special situations as per Grab President Brian Cu.

No charge if:

1. The passenger cancels within 5 minutes of getting an assigned driver.
2. The driver is not moving toward the pickup point or going the wrong direction.
3. The driver takes 15 minutes longer than the first estimated time of arrival.
4. The driver indicates that he has arrived but he has not.
5. If a fee was charged wrongly, Grab said it will give a refund within 48 hours, if the matter is reported through the Help Center on the app.

Grab also said that there is a new "tipping feature" that allows the passenger to reward the driver with a 5-star rating.

Hopefully, Grab's new measures will really lessen the unnecessary cancellations from both passengers and drivers.

Just fair.
