He also described how rigorous the process of coming up with the start-up community. In addition, QBO director Katrina Chan narrated that they devised stages to narrow down the presenters from the 300 candidates so that they come up with twelve who can showcase their business plan to investors and stakeholders. QBO prioritized startups who are from or cater to underserved communities as it also aims to create a positive effect on the society aside from making profits.
Who made it through the INQbation?
Each of the incubatees had sufficient time to present their business models and growth plans. Some of these start-ups are directly servicing end consumers and an example of this is the first presenter from Investagram. This app is basically created to guide ordinary people who want to start in stock market investment. Aside from providing strong analytic tools, it also enables virtual trading and collaboration within the online community. Another presenter is a lawyer who saw the Filipinos' need for legal advice so the Lexmeet was conceived. This is the first real-time and online consultation to serve the people who are hindered by time, distance and money. The app has an algorithm to match the lawyer and the client in terms of specialization, location, and dialect.
In the field of tourism, MAD travel provides not your ordinary tour experience since its purpose is to marginalized communities in the Philippines. Part of their tours is a tree planting activity while they assist the community so the travelers can have a meaningful immersion during their stay. Young professionals and condo dwellers can also benefit from the start-up venture Washub as its laundry service platform will take care of the dirty laundry. With the app, users can easily book the pick-up of their dirty clothes and then pay for the service at the delivery.
Other participants in the program target business establishments in the field of construction, retail advertising, and etc. INQBATION Startup Showcase also featured an exhibit and a business matching area where other startup incubatees and ecosystem stakeholders were able to display their businesses.
