Huawei Watch GT was released in the country last March 2019. For more than a month, I was able to play with its latest color variant, the Elegant White made specifically for her.

Meet Huawei Watch GT Elegant White - Tough smartwatch for her!

The latest color variant of the Huawei Watch GT is the Elegant White. It looks so clean, pretty, and easily distinguishable that it's a feminine color. This variant has the same specifications and looks from its Black or Brown variants, and just differentiates itself from the color and material of the strap.

The former variants had leather straps out of the box. Meanwhile, the Elegant White variant came with a sporty rubber strap, which for me, was perfect because I snorkeled, and did canyoneering with the Huawei Watch GT for 10 hours!

However, my only gripe is its screen size and measurement. The watch measures at 46.5 x 46.5 mm with a 1.39-inch big screen. For girls, this can be pretty big on wrists, but if you like your watch's screen big, then this might be the one for you.

I was able to put the Huawei Watch GT on a hard test when I brought it with me on my recent trip to Cebu and Bohol.

I've swum with the Whale Shark, trekked, cliff jumping, snorkeling with the turtles, fishes, coral reefs, and did canyoneering with the watch on my wrist tracking my swimming & walking minutes, monitoring my heartbeat rate, and comes out 'alive' out of salty water!

I've been a bit anxious because I'm really not sure as to how the Huawei Watch GT can handle the salty ocean water and the pressure of the falls as I jumped on a cliff. But, I was AMAZED that the Huawei Watch GT works perfectly under any condition back we were on the trip.

This watch is equipped with 420mAh of battery which surprisingly lasted for almost 12 hours! It charges for an hour using the charger that comes along with it.

What we mentioned on our unboxing review of its first variant, it can last for more than 2 weeks if you're just going to use it as a watch to check your time.

It can last for more than two weeks on a single charge!

Under the hood, it runs with a Cortex-M4 processor, 16MB RAM, and 128MB storage. It uses the new LiteOS, a proprietary OS of Huawei for fitness watches. It comes with easy swipe gestures and a pretty neat look skin. It is easy to understand and use.

You just need to swipe down to view shortcut keys, swipe up to view messages, swipe left or right to view fitness tracker, weather, and bpm. You can also choose and select the notifications you want to show in the Huawei Health app found on your phone (available for download on both iOS and Android).

It is a fitness feature-rich watch. It comes with a lot of fitness tracking options, multi-sports mode, sleep tracking, heart rate tracking, real-time positioning (GPS), and more.

Other features and settings are hidden when you press the power key and function button. Since it isn't on Android Wear, there are no 3rd party apps. We also noticed that you cannot use the watch to control the music.

It has an NFC chip but without the tap-to-pay options.

Quick thoughts

We're happy that Huawei released the Elegant White variant which made this pretty big smartwatch suited for girls.

However, it could have been better if the Chinese tech giant has also released a smaller size and screen display that can perfectly match the slim wrists of women.

Overall, Huawei Watch GT surprised me of how tough it can be. It made a perfect companion for me to track how long I've already been on the water, how long I've trekked, how many steps I've taken, and most especially, monitoring my heart rate.

The performance is great, the syncing with the Huawei Health phone app is seamless, and it lasts long, be it a long, busy day or even two weeks.

It doesn't have all the apps from a full-blown smartwatch with shorter battery life though.

But for its purpose, the Huawei Watch GT with stellar battery life delivered.
