Qualcomm's latest flagship chip!

Snapdragon 855 is arguably the speediest mobile chip around. It is commonly found on most high-end smartphones like the OnePlus 7 Pro, Xiaomi Mi 9, and more. As of writing, OnePlus 7 Pro with the said chip is the top-performing Android phone at AnTuTu, a popular benchmarking app.

SD855 Plus is said to be even faster than the SD855 found inside the OnePlus 7 Pro. SD855 Plus has a lone "Prime" CPU core clocked at 2.96GHz versus the 2.84GHz of SD855.

Its GPU, the Adreno 640 of SD855 Plus also offers up to 15 percent performance versus the Adreno 640 of the regular 855.

Qualcomm said that it will be ideal for gaming since it now has a faster CPU and GPU speeds.

Qualcomm added that the tweaks will also be helpful for AR and VR speeds. It still doesn't have a built-in 5G chip though. It will still rely on a separate modem like the X50 to have 5G connectivity.

According to the company, users can expect to see the chip inside devices in the second half of 2019.

If true, we might see it inside some flagship phones by the end of the year. Usually, mobile phone brands launch their high-end phones by October.

Let's see!
