To reduce low-quality links and make people's news feed more informative

Facebook added that it is "to reduce low-quality" links in users' news feed.

According to the internet giant, it carried out research which showed that a small group of users was "routinely sharing vast amounts of public posts per day", which was effectively spamming people's feeds.

The company's study also showed that the same people who were sharing vast amounts of public posts share low-quality content.

Facebook action is it will "deprioritize" the posts being shared by such accounts.

The new policy will apply to links to articles and domains. Status updates, check-ins, pages, videos, and photos will not be affected.
