GoPro HERO8 Black, MAX and Mods are officially coming to the Philippines following its global launch earlier this week.

GoPro HERO8 Black
HERO8 Black has a streamlined design with frameless mounting with built-in folding mounting fingers. It is also smaller and 14 percent lighter. The frameless design makes changing batteries and SD cards faster. The lens also has twice the amount of impact resistance from the previous version. Even with it being smaller, it is still rugged and waterproof up to 33 feet. It also still GPS enabled.
on the new HyperSmooth 2.0 video stabilization that is drastically better compared to version 1.0. In addition, HyperSmooth 2.0 works in all resolution and frame rates. It also has a new Boost mode and In-App horizon leveling. TimeWarp 2.0 can automatically adjust speed based on motion, scene detection, and lighting. You can tap to slow down back to real-time and tap again to speed back up.
There are 10 presets for capturing footage, on-screen shortcuts for your most-used functions, LiveBurst so you can choose the best single frame within a 1.5-second time frame for a 12MP photo or a 4K 4:3 video, and SuperPhoto with HDR.
It can shoot videos at 4K 60fps with up to 100Mbps bit rate option and 1080p 240fps 8X slo-mo video. RAW mode is available in all photo modes as well including time-lapse and burst photos. With Night Lapse Video, you can shoot time-lapse videos at night in 4K, 2.7K 4:3,1440p or 1080p, all processed in-camera.
For live streamers, you also get HyperSmooth stabilization as you broadcast in 1080p using the GoPro app. There are also Voice Controls with 14 voice commands in 15 languages. Audio is also improved with advanced Wind-Noise reduction.

GoPro MAX is a dual-lens camera that is touted to function like three cameras in one. It has the same built-in, folding mounting fingers from the HERO8 Black. You can easily switch between the traditional HERO-style shot to 360-degree footage. It is also waterproof up to 16 feet.
It has its own Max HyperSmooth feature that provides stabilization by using 180-degree capture as an ultimate buffer. It also has an In-Camera Horizon Leveling, MAX TimeWarp, MAX SuperView, PowerPano which can shoot panorama without the need of panning, and 4 digital lenses for choosing the perfect FOV for your shot.
GoPro MAX can shoot 5.6K 30fps 360 videos, 1440p 60fps and 1080p 60fps HERO video, 5.5MP Hero photos and 6.2MP PowerPano photos. For audio, you can capture immersive 360-degree audio using MAX's 6 mics. The output will be provided with stereo audio. You can prioritize which side of the camera has clear audio via directional audio.
You can easily edit your 360 footage via the GoPro app as well. Voice Control has 13 programmed commands in 15 languages. It also has GPS that can add FPS performance stickers to your videos.

GoPro Mods include three modular accessories to expand HERO8 Black's functions. First off, the Media Mod delivers shotgun-mic directional audio with two cold shoe mounts for additional accessories as well as USB-C ports, HDMI, and 3.5mm external mic adapter ports.
Second, the Display Mod, as the name implies, adds a folding front or rear-facing 1.90-inch screen that attaches to the top of the Media Mod. It is the right size for both framing up vlogging shots.
Lastly, the Light Mod is a waterproof, wearable and mountable light. It can also be mounted via the Media Mod or attached directly to a GoPro mount. It is rechargeable and comes with a diffuser.
Price and availability
GoPro HERO8 Black is priced at PHP 23,990 while the GoPro MAX is at PHP 29,490. The Mods' prices are yet to be announced though.
Both the GoPro HERO8 Black and Max is set to be in preorder starting on October 18. Preorder will come with freebies such as Foldable Bags or Casey. HERO 8 and MAX will be available via authorized retailers by November. The Mods will be available for preorder on GoPro's website in December.
