Telcos shift to 8-digit landline numbers

8-digit landline numbers

In a text message to its subscribers, Globe Telecom said it successfully implemented the eight-digit landline numbers to all of its Globe At Home, DUO and Bayan landline numbers with (02) area code.

When calling Globe or DUO landline numbers, users must add the number '7' at the beginning. For its Bayan landline numbers, meanwhile, '3' has been added.

PLDT, on the other hand, said in a separate advisory it likewise completed the shift to eight-digit number system with '8' as its assigned public telecommunications entity. However, subscribers of Globe have been experiencing a hard time reaching PLDT numbers since the migration amid technical difficulties.

You may experience difficulty calling PLDT numbers due to some issue from their end, Globe said.

The Pangilinan-led telco assured it has already looking into the issues.

We are working with out technical partners to resolve these problems as quickly as possible. We are also coordinating with our counterpart telco carriers to address issues between telcos, PLDT said.
