Qualcomm announced two new compute platforms namely Snapdragon 7c 8nm and 8c 7nm processors. This is designed for always-on, always-connected PCs.

Snapdragon 7c has a 2.4GHz octa-core Kyro 468 CPU with an Adreno 618 GPU. It is said to deliver a 25 percent boost in system performance. It also comes with the Qualcomm Hexagon 692 GSP AI engine that can cough out 5 Trillion Operations per Second (TOPS). For connectivity, it has the Snapdragon X15 LTE modem with support for 800 Mbps LTE. There is no 5G support though. It is already WiFi 6 ready.
On the other hand, Snapdragon 8c has a 2.45GHz octa-core Kyro 490 CPU with Adreno 675 CPU. It is built upon the Snapdragon 8cx enterprise compute platform. It delivers up to a 30 percent increase in performance compared to the Snapdragon 850.
It also has an integrated Snapdragon X24 LTE modem. In addition, manufacturers can also pair it with a Snapdragon X55 modem for 5G support. It has the Qualcomm Hexagon 690 DSP AI Engine that dedicates 6 TOPS to ensure fast machine learning applications.
Laptops launching in 2020 are expected to be powered by these new Qualcomm compute platforms.
