Since we are still in the early stages of 5G, phones with such tech are often expensive. But according to reports from China, that might change soon.

Budget 5G phones soon!

Yang Chaoying, the president of Huawei's 5G product line said that the company will launch a smartphone with 5G connectivity priced at just USD 150 (around CNY 1,028 and PHP 7.6K) at the end of 2020 or early 2021.

If true, that's half the price of the current cheapest 5G phone priced at CNY 1,999 (around PHP 14.7K).

Huawei makes its own 5G chips so that is possible. We won't also be surprised if they will check alternatives from MediaTek.

Late in 2019, a report revealed that Huawei might use the MediaTek Dimensity 800 to some of its lower-end 5G phones.

Either way, this is surely Huawei's way to make 5G accessible even to the masses.

Currently, Huawei is the leading 5G smartphone vendor in the world as it sold 6.9 million 5G smartphones in 2019.

Here in the Philippines, Huawei is the main supplier of 5G telco equipment of Globe and Smart. Our local telcos are expected to launch their 5G services for 5G phones this Q1 2020.
